The Wastewater Treatment System

This case study describes a system for waste water for a plant for electronic devices.

Great quantities of poisoned wastewater are produced during the production processes of electronic products. If factories were to discharge wastewater into rivers arbitrarily, it would  cause the serious harm to ecological resources.  Wastewater treatment systems not only change poisoned substances into non-poisoned substances, but also recycle water resources so they can be used again.  Green Controls uses a high-performance controller to control main system processing process equipment, and to communicate with InduSoft SCADA software—the user interface of the supervisory and control system.  Users receive information about on-site processing status from any computer with an internet connection and browser at any location.  I-8837 is designed to fit the worst circumstances in industrial environments, so that this system provides a stable and dependable control system. Indusoft, the SCADA software, has a friendly interface for users to develop their own systems fast and easily.

System Framework

1.  The system includes waste developer treatment, organic wastewater treatment, acid/alkali liquid treatment, and sludge treatment.  Each system handles different processing processes.

2.  The main control equipment is the on site I-8837 controller.

3.  InduSoft SCADA software communicates with I-8837 through Modbus RTU communication interface.

4.  InduSoft SCADA software provides status alarm, and report functions.

The Wastewater Treatment System of Electronic Industries

 Features:

1.  Uses standard Modbus RTU communication interface

2.  Easy to use graphical user interface (GUI)

3.  For safety, the system will halt warning area automatically when alarm executes.

4.  Monitors systems from remote sites through web browsers.

I-8837 Series controllers is an industrial platform with fine construction and powerful functions.  With the ISaGRAF development environment, users can develop a fully functional wastewater treatment system with ease.  I-8837 has I/O slots.  An extensive range of I/O modules are available from Green Controls that will meet your requirements.  Users can connect to control centers easily with th Modbus communication interface.  Ingenious design and stable systems give users the best combination of efficiency and budget control.

Used hardware:

The core of the system is the I-8837 PAC

The I-8837-PAC connects to the I-7520 that transforms the RS485 communication line into the RS 232 that directly connects to a PC. This PC is connected to the Internet allowing other stations to Monitor and control as well.

Most industrial computer systems come with standard RS-232 serial ports. Though widely accepted, RS-232 has limited transmission speed, range, and networking capabilities. The RS-422 and RS-485 standards overcome these limitations by using differential voltage lines for data and control signals. The I-7520/I-7520A transparently converts RS-232 signals into isolated RS-485 signals.

The software used is an Indusoft Implementation.

Technology Update:

The latest developments would change this plant as we now have the XP-8000 series as well as the G4500 that can connect directly to the Internet. We also now can use the RU-87Pn series to create satellite stations that all can connect to the PAC or G4500 that contains a mini-controller.
